A Message From Our Youth
Our youth connect the history that shaped us with the future we are building together.
A Reflection by Ajah Majur Atem:
The Twic East Youth - USA community is mostly comprised of children whose fathers were part of the resettlement group known as the Lost Boys of Sudan. Over thirty years ago, our fathers and uncles embarked on a journey through dark and difficult times. The Second Sudanese Civil War tore families apart, displaced many South Sudanese from their homes, and claimed countless lives, making the future look uncertain and daunting.
Now, in comparison to our parent's history, our hearts are filled with joy and pride. The sorrow that once overshadowed their lives is now eclipsed by the happiness and hope radiating from our community. We are witnessing graduations and achievements that were once distant dreams, now turned into reality. The future of Pan Twi is in the hands of strong, resilient individuals who inherited their parent's strength in facing adversities.
Let us cherish this moment and honor our graduates for they represent our strength as a people. As children of the Lost Boys of Sudan, our parents indeed came a long and emotional way. Now, we are hoping they can finally rest knowing that better days are not just a distant hope but a real possibility. Better days filled with endless promises and unbreakable hope have come!
